So I’ve finally got around to write about some practical examples of Mocking.
Our mocking tool of choice is TypeMock and it comes in three different versions: a Community, Professional, and Enterprise edition. The Enterprise edition is the most powerful version, but that doesn’t mean that your organization can’t get by with the Community edition. A detailed list of the differences between the versions is available here.

At the beginning of the year, our development organization decided to go Agile. Our development methodology was going to be flipped on its head. This meant saying goodbye to the waterfall approach and hello to rapid, iterative development. This also meant adopting TDD (test driven development) - a development procedure in which unit tests drive your code. Three months into it, we seem to have gotten the hang of it and picked up some new skills along the way.

Amazing! This is the first time in an ODI that anyone has hit six 6s in a single over. Granted the ground was not that big nor is Scotland the strongest cricket team, but you have to give Gibbs credit for this:

Here is Rainn Wilson’s monologue from last night’s SNL episode. Probably one of the funnier monologues in the recent past:

A lot of people have posted the following Calvin and Hobbes comic as an authentic strip, but unfortunately it’s not. I say unfortunately because it has a very profound message:

Now here’s an interesting story you don’t come across every day: This past weekend Joe Rogan (News Radio/Fear Factor) interuppted Carlos Mencia’s stand up routine and accused him of stealing other comics’ jokes. Several comics had complained over the years but Joe decided that he wanted to confront Mencia on camera. And he pretty much owned him. I enjoyed it quite a bit - primarly because I’m not a Carlos Mencia fan. His show isn’t very funny, his jokes are mean spirited, and now it turns out that he’s been stealing jokes from other comics. Also, it turns out that he’s not even Mexican - he’s half Honduran and half German and his original name as Ned Holness.

And here is Joe Rogan’s take on it on his site:

Ever need to call someone overseas and you’re not sure what time it is over there? Is Karachi 9 or 10 hours ahead? Do they do Daylight Saving in Thailand? Microsoft Time Zone is a neat little free utility that sits in your system tray and tells you the current time for the cities that you choose. Requires Windows XP and .NET 1.1 SP1.

Here is an excellent article about Threading in C# written by Joseph Albahari. It gets you started with very basic examples and then goes in depth into topics such as synchronization and locking. The examples are quite good and very easy to understand.
The article is available in both web and PDF format.

Let’s say you want to change the reservation on your flight or you want to talk to a customer service rep about mysterious charges on your cell phone bill. Most likely you’ll have to cycle through a dozen prompts, often being asked questions that you will be asked later by a customer service rep anyway. After about 10 minutes of trying to talk to a computer you are finally get through to a real person. Wouldn’t it be nice to how to talk to a human right away? Well gethuman.com has a database of companies and how to get through to to a real life customer service representative.

Now if only there was a way to make sure you could connect to someone in the same hemisphere as you.
